Collective Footnotes is our monthly reading series hosted by offDAC and Institute of Machine Unlearning.
Collective Footnotes is an attempt at a book club, and an attempt to unlearn book clubs at the same time. Also a gentle way of holding ourselves accountable to the reading lists that keep growing faster than we can finish them.
We are meeting online once a month to slowly work our way through books, essays, articles and open tabs that have been patiently waiting on our reading lists, to expand the ways we can practice reading otherwise, by following tensions, rabbit holes and connections that emerge between the lines.
For our second session we'll be reading Artificial Intelligence Is a Hot Mess by Mél Hogan and dealing with ideas such as:
→ environmental perspectives on ‘AI‘ systems → the (desillusional) thriving for a sustainable ‘AI’ → how the ‘AI’ industry is intentionally misleading the public
